Logo was the first thing that I created in this process. I chose to use Canva this time because it offers a variety of animations, which are needed for my logo. I wanted my whale to float like it is swimming in the sea.
This is version was my first draft, although I like the concept, I found it was not eye-catching and the whale is a little bit blended into the background, so I change to a white background, and a different font style.

This is my new version. I kinda like it, and it also received some good feedbacks from my friends.
I chose Da Vinci Resolve 19 as my partner this time. The reason why I did not choose Adobe is that I could not access it since it was not free to use. My school did provide it, but I was really uncomfortable when sharing the same laptop with others, so I changed to Da Vinci Resolve.
Firstly, when just got started, I immediately went to YouTube and searched for “Da Vinci Resolve tutorial for beginners”, to understand the basic foundation before doing the editing.
I watched this one:

After watching the video, I acknowledge how to use the application more clearly.
First and foremost, according to the video, we have to adjust the settings first to avoid errors during the editing process and when we export the product.

The first category is for importing media, while the second is for putting the media together and trimming. The third one will be the central place for me to work, where all the editing, such as adding text, transitions, music, etc., occurs. I did not understand how to use the wand, so I skipped that part. The next category is for color-grading, and following that is the sound effects area, where we can use the reduced background noise effect and adjust the volume up and down. The last one will be for rendering and exporting the media.
In the beginning, I tried to connect all the shots to create a complete line story and trim all the unnecessary footage. Because of this process, I enhanced my selection and visual thinking skills by thinking about what should go next. Should I put this shot here? Also, naming documents is essential when you have various media files that must be looked at to avoid losing files during the process. In total, I made five rough cuts; each happened because I kept getting feedback from the outside, and I was convinced to change, so I did it.
Then, I started with the sound design. Sound is one of the most crucial factors that lead us to emotional stages. I had already tried to eliminate the background noise by using the “reduce background noise” tools in Da Vinci, but in some scenes, whether the actors spoke too small or the party music in the back was too loud, making me tired. I visited other reduced background noise sites because Da Vinci's tool was not working. Fortunately, it sounds better.
